Stone Island celebrates its fortieth anniversary with a brand new retail identification. The Italian model label partnered with Dutch studio AMO to debut the concept that at their new Chicago retailer, the primary for town. The analysis studio, affiliated with structure company OMA, was once a herbal selection for a logo that has cast an ethos orchestrated round experimentation and boundary-pushing design.
The altar-like 180 sqm format is punctuated with niches for archive items and prototypes, a results of years of experimentation in Stone Island’s lab in Raverino, Italy. Devoted rooms for collaboration and to exhibit processes spotlight the emblem’s dedication to innovation of materiality.
Surfaces all through the shop mirror the glance of stone, even though there’s no stone to be discovered. As an alternative, AMO used off-the-shelf fabrics and put them via rigorous and distinctive therapies to obtain other appearances and homes. Recycled paper and resins have been compressed below top power to create a sturdy subject matter that mimics concrete, used for sculptural shows of goods and as a viable development subject matter.

The inner revolves round the focal point on era and construction, providing a hub for the emblem’s wide-reaching neighborhood. All long term shops will likely be designed to connect to and serve the neighborhood past opening hours, with public shows, salons, workshops and personal occasions.
“The gap, materiality, and program of the shops underpin the emblem’s ethos, and toughen a way of belonging of its neighborhood of like-minded other folks,” explains AMO inventive director Samir Bantal.
The brand new spatial design idea will quickly observe in Seoul, Munich and Stockholm.
